Bengaluru– Swedish-Swiss electrical equipment maker ABB on Wednesday said it has won a Rs 115-crore contract to supply transformers to the Indian Railways.

The order has been awarded by Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi, ABB said in a statement.

These transformers are custom-made for the WAP-7 type electric locomotive. The 6,000 horsepower locomotive can haul 24 coaches at a speed of up to 140 km per hour.

“As part of our commitment to the Railways, our technology enables 24×7, reliable and quality power for this critical mode of transportation,” ABB said. (IANS)
