For the third year in a row, the IndUS Business Journal is publishing a Women in Business Awards Supplement to honor groundbreaking and trendsetting women who are hallmarks of the influential South Asian business community in the United States.
The 2009 Women in Business Awards Supplement builds on the foundation of previous supplements with another round of impressive woman who are making a name for themselves in the professional ranks in the United States.
The main goal of this awards supplement is to honor South Asian women not only for their contribution to the South Asian business community in the United States, but also to the nation's overall business community and for their setting a tremendous example of women's success in the workplace.
The supplement will honor women in a number of different categories, including the 2009 IndUS Business Journal Businesswoman of the Year, Anu Shukla, founder of the Fremont, Calif.-based Offerpal Media.
Shukla tops a stellar cast of honorees. The other winners of this year's Women in Business Awards are: Best Business Idea: Jasbina Ahluwalia, founder of Intersections Matchmaking; Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals: Sangeeta Bhatia, co-founder of Hepregen Corp.; Education: Pooja Goel, founder Little GuruSkool; Franchise: Nandini Chinnagiri, franchisee of Home Helpers; Health care & Medicine: Dr. Kriti Bhatia, attending physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston; Legal Services: Sheela Murthy, founder, president and managing partner of the Murthy Law Firm; Professional Organizations: Association of Physicians of Indian Origin's Women's Physicians Committee; Technology: Vidya Vasu, chief operating officer of SolveIT Inc.
