NEW DELHI– Elon Musk’s Tesla is set to expand its footprint in India with the opening of its second showroom in the country, located in the upscale Worldmark 3 complex at Aerocity in the national capital.
The new facility will serve customers across the National Capital Region (NCR), a key market for India’s electric mobility drive.
Tesla’s India lineup currently features the Model Y electric SUV in two configurations: the standard Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), priced at ₹59.89 lakh (ex-showroom), and the Long Range RWD variant at ₹67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries for both are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025.
Ahead of the launch, Tesla posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Arriving in Delhi – stay tuned,” accompanied by a graphic announcing its entry into the capital.
The Delhi showroom follows the company’s India debut on July 15 with the launch of its first outlet in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. That high-profile event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who welcomed Tesla’s entry and encouraged the automaker to establish R&D and manufacturing operations in the state.
The Model Y’s standard RWD version comes with a 60 kWh battery and a WLTP-certified range of 500 km, while the Long Range RWD variant is equipped with a 75 kWh battery delivering up to 622 km on a single charge.
Initial deliveries will be prioritized for buyers in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram, with vehicles transported via flatbed trucks directly to customers’ homes. Tesla has also updated its website to allow registrations in all states and union territories, extending availability beyond its launch cities.
While the company lists its Full Self-Driving (FSD) package as an optional extra for ₹6 lakh, Tesla said the advanced feature will be introduced in India at a later date. (Source: IANS)
