MUMBAI– Tesla has begun delivering the standard Model Y to customers in India, marking another step in the company’s entry into the country’s premium EV market. Deliveries of the Long Range variant are expected to start soon.
New Model Y owners will also receive a complimentary Tesla Wall Connector, which can be installed at homes or workplaces. The device allows for convenient overnight charging, helping drivers start each day with a full battery while cutting down on per-mile costs and eliminating fuel station visits.
Beyond home charging, Tesla drivers can use the company’s public charging network. The Mumbai station at One BKC includes four V4 Superchargers (DC) and four Destination Chargers (AC). In Delhi’s Aerocity, the setup features four V4 Superchargers and three Destination Chargers, giving customers multiple charging options.
The Model Y is priced starting at Rs 59.89 lakh. The Long Range version, when it launches, will be available at Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
Last month, Tesla opened its first showroom in the National Capital Region at Worldmark 3 in Aerocity, its second retail location in India within weeks of entering the market. Located in one of Delhi’s busiest business districts near Indira Gandhi International Airport, the outlet serves as an experience center for exploring the Model Y, the buying process, and charging options.
With deliveries underway and two major showrooms now open, Tesla is positioning itself aggressively ahead of the holiday season. The company has not announced plans for local manufacturing or additional models for India, but for now, the Model Y remains the flagship of its Indian lineup. (Source: IANS)
