NEW DELHI — Apple could see a sharp increase in iPhone shipments in India during the 2026 launch quarter, with CyberMedia Research estimating volumes could be about 40% higher than the company’s average quarterly level.
The anticipated launch of Apple’s first foldable iPhone is also expected to strengthen the company’s position in India’s growing foldable smartphone market.
According to preliminary estimates from CyberMedia Research, Apple’s iPhone shipments in India during the September-November launch quarter could be about 40% above its average quarterly level in 2026. The research firm expects Apple to post year-over-year growth of about 4% during the period.
CMR estimates the iPhone 18 Pro could account for about 8% of Apple’s shipments during the launch quarter, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could represent around 5%.
The anticipated iPhone Fold could capture about 24% of India’s foldable smartphone market during its launch quarter, according to the research firm.
The expected foldable launch comes as Apple works through changes in its artificial intelligence strategy and leadership ranks. The device could generate significant consumer interest, particularly among existing Apple users who have been waiting for the company to enter the foldable category.
Apple’s longstanding emphasis on privacy is also expected to remain an important part of its competitive positioning as the company expands its AI capabilities.
Its planned Siri overhaul and broader AI push are expected to focus on core consumer uses, including productivity and camera features.
Apple’s rumored release strategy also points to a shift in the timing of its iPhone launches. The Pro, Pro Max and anticipated foldable models are expected to anchor the festive-season fourth-quarter lineup, while the standard iPhone 18 could be launched during the traditionally weaker first quarter.
