Agartala–US Consul General Craig Hall has highlighted the growing India-US relationship in the areas of higher education, regional connectivity and economic ties.
During his two-day maiden visit to Left-ruled Tripura, Hall met Governor Tathagata Roy and Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and discussed the future of India-US relations and the state’s development potential, said a statement issued on Friday by US Consulate General in Kolkata.
“He highlighted the growing India-US relationship in the areas of higher education, regional connectivity and economic ties,” said the statement.
Hall discussed “India-US Relations – A Partnership for the 21st Century” with the students of Tripura University.
“The US sees with India the potential for a friendship and partnership that will be transformative for the 21st century,” the statement quoted Hall as saying.
He also stressed the importance of people-to-people connections, and inspired the students to become transformational leaders.
The diplomat visited the Akhaura checkpost along the Bangladesh border and witnessed the Beating the Retreat ceremony, jointly organised by the Border Security Force (BSF) of India and Border Guards Bangladesh.
