New Delhi— Bharti Airtel has entered into a multi-year strategic agreement with Swedish telecom giant Ericsson to manage its pan-India network across multiple technologies, including 4G, 5G NSA, 5G SA, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), Private Networks, and Network Slicing.
Under the partnership, Ericsson will oversee Airtel’s national network operations through its advanced Network Operations Centre (NOC) while expanding support for next-generation services like FWA and Network Slicing across the country.
“We’re thrilled to strengthen our collaboration with Ericsson as we build a future-ready network to deliver superior digital experiences for our customers,” said Randeep Sekhon, CTO of Bharti Airtel. “These innovations will help us meet the growing data needs of a digitally connected India.”
Ericsson highlighted the deal as a reaffirmation of its leadership in managed services and long-standing relationship with Airtel.
“This milestone agreement deepens our partnership with Airtel and underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality customer experiences,” said Andres Vicente, Head of Market Area Southeast Asia, Oceania and India at Ericsson. “Using Intent-Based NOC Operations, we’ll help Airtel diversify services and unlock new revenue streams.”
The collaboration builds on a 25-year relationship between the two companies and follows recent joint efforts in deploying 5G Core technologies to accelerate India’s 5G rollout.
Airtel, a leading global communications provider, serves over 550 million customers across India and Africa, and maintains a presence in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka through its affiliate companies.
In a separate move last month, Airtel partnered with Google to offer six months of complimentary 100GB Google One cloud storage to postpaid and broadband customers, addressing device storage concerns and enabling sharing with up to five users. (Source: IANS)
