NEW DELHI– Mercedes-Benz India reported its highest-ever monthly sales in September, marking a 36 percent jump compared to the same period last year, driven by strong festive demand and positive consumer response to the recent GST 2.0 reforms.

The automaker sold more than 2,500 vehicles in just nine days, contributing to a record-setting quarter. The company reported second-quarter sales of 5,119 units and total volumes of 9,357 vehicles from April through September — a year-on-year increase of about 4 percent.

Mercedes-Benz India said its Long Wheelbase E-Class sedan and SUV lineup — including the GLC, GLE, GLS, and G63 AMG — achieved their best monthly performance to date.

“Mercedes-Benz clocked its best-ever September sales owing to overwhelming customer response following the GST 2.0 reforms, culminating in pent-up demand,” said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India. “Our attractive new portfolio and innovative financial programs have further fueled this demand.”

Iyer added that the timing of the GST reduction helped boost consumer sentiment at a moment when car prices have been rising due to macroeconomic pressures such as foreign exchange fluctuations and higher operational costs.

The company noted that the luxury segment — comprising the GLS, S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, and AMG G63 — accounted for 25 percent of its quarterly sales, representing a 12 percent increase over last year.

Battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) also showed strong momentum, contributing roughly 8 percent of total sales. The BEV portfolio expanded 10 percent, led by record demand for the EQS SUV.

The Long Wheelbase E-Class remains India’s top-selling luxury car, growing 47 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of fiscal 2025–26. Mercedes-Benz’s “Made in India” SUV lineup includes the GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS models, all of which contributed to the company’s robust performance. (Source: IANS)
