New Delhi–Tesla has opened its first approved body shop in India in Pune, Maharashtra, expanding its after-sales network as it begins offering test drives of two Model Y variants in the city.
The facility will provide Tesla owners in Maharashtra with access to genuine parts, trained technicians and company-approved collision repair and maintenance services.
Tesla said the body shop will offer collision repairs, body work, software-enabled diagnostics and approved repair procedures designed to maintain vehicle safety and performance while reducing customer downtime.
The electric vehicle maker has also launched test drives in Pune and surrounding areas for the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive and Model Y L. Prospective buyers can schedule appointments through Tesla’s website or customer support channels.
The Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive is priced at Rs 50.89 lakh and has a WLTP-certified range of up to 500 kilometers. The SUV can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.9 seconds and offers up to 2,138 liters of storage space.
Tesla said deliveries of the vehicle are scheduled to begin in July 2026.
The company has also introduced the Model Y L, a three-row, six-seat, all-wheel-drive SUV aimed at families.
The Model Y L starts at Rs 61.99 lakh and offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 681 kilometers. It can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in five seconds and has up to 2,539 liters of cargo space.
Tesla said the new body shop and expanded test-drive program reflect its efforts to improve the ownership experience in India.
The company identified Pune as an important market because of the city’s growing electric vehicle adoption and strong industrial base. (Source: IANS)
