New Delhi — Indian IT services companies are becoming increasingly important partners for leading global artificial intelligence firms as businesses shift their attention from AI model capabilities to deployment, integration and organizational change, according to a report from UBS.

The brokerage said Indian IT companies have long specialized in helping enterprises move technology projects from pilot stages into full-scale production, putting those capabilities in greater demand among AI companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

OpenAI has said demand for enterprise deployment of its coding assistant Codex exceeded its own capacity to support customers, leading it to work with global systems integrators including Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services.

Anthropic has similarly emphasized that successfully testing an AI system is different from operating one reliably within a business. The company has said enterprises are more likely to succeed with AI integration when they work with partners that have experience carrying out such projects.

Infosys appears on the partner rosters of both companies, while TCS has been specifically identified among Anthropic’s partners, according to the report.

UBS said the biggest obstacles to expanding enterprise AI deployments are increasingly unclear returns on investment, inadequate data readiness and governance concerns rather than the performance of AI models themselves.

Management commentary from major Indian IT companies during the first quarter of fiscal 2026-27 also showed that clients are demanding measurable results, stronger governance frameworks and improved data foundations before committing to large-scale AI deployments.

Infosys management has said clients are increasing spending on AI, infrastructure, data readiness and cloud platforms, suggesting that the ability to prepare and manage data has become a major constraint on AI adoption.

TCS has also identified AI governance as a top priority for enterprise customers. According to the report, clients are increasingly seeking end-to-end accountability for returns on AI investments even as many existing technology systems remain unprepared for AI deployment at scale. (Source: IANS)
