New Delhi — Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday highlighted India’s economic fundamentals, investment-focused reforms and expanding business opportunities during meetings with senior corporate leaders in Singapore.

Goyal met Dilhan Sandrasegara, CEO of Temasek Holdings, to discuss ways to deepen investment ties and expand the Singapore-based investment company’s engagement with India.

He said India’s strong economic fundamentals, reform agenda and opportunities across multiple sectors provide significant potential for long-term partnerships.

Goyal also met a delegation led by Mark Lee, Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation, to discuss stronger business-to-business engagement and ways to expand trade and investment between India and Singapore.

The minister said the business communities of both countries have an important role to play in strengthening economic ties and creating new opportunities for companies.

Healthcare was also a focus of the visit. Goyal met Leo Puri, Chairman of Fortis Healthcare, and Dr. Prem Nair, Group CEO of IHH Healthcare, to discuss greater India-Singapore cooperation in the sector.

“We discussed opportunities to deepen India-Singapore cooperation in healthcare and strengthen partnerships in this important sector,” Goyal said in a post on X.

He added that India’s expanding healthcare ecosystem offers opportunities for global investors and institutions seeking to participate in the country’s growth.

In another meeting, Goyal held discussions with Brian Shuptrine, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Turner & Townsend, on India’s infrastructure development and opportunities for greater participation by international investors.

“India’s investment-led growth is creating new opportunities across infrastructure and allied sectors,” Goyal said.

During his Singapore visit, the minister also addressed INSEAD alumni and students, Singaporean entrepreneurs and Indian businesses at the India-Singapore Business Forum.

Goyal highlighted India’s economic growth, investment opportunities and government efforts to improve the ease of doing business, while emphasizing the country’s push to strengthen economic partnerships with Singapore and other Asian markets. (Source: IANS)
