Greater Noida — Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday opened an investigation into allegedly fake and misleading videos that appeared to show waterlogging at Noida International Airport following recent heavy rainfall.
Police also filed a case against a Facebook account operating under the name “Sach Bolo” after receiving a complaint from airport management.
Several videos circulated on social media during heavy rain across the Delhi-NCR region, appearing to show water collected in a passage connecting the airport terminal and parking area.
Airport officials said the footage was fake, misleading and did not accurately represent conditions at the facility. They argued that its circulation could mislead travelers and damage the reputation of Noida International Airport.
In its complaint, airport management described the facility as a major public infrastructure project and asked police to investigate the social media content and take appropriate legal action.
Police are examining the origin and authenticity of the video, as well as the circumstances surrounding its distribution. Investigators are also seeking to determine whether the footage was deliberately created or shared to present a false picture of conditions at the airport.
Jewar police are expected to conduct a technical review of the viral footage and related social media accounts while examining available digital evidence.
The videos prompted widespread reaction online, including criticism from Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.
“Will boats now run at the airport? Wherever there is a BJP government, there is massive corruption!” Yadav wrote on X.
Other social media users also questioned the airport’s drainage arrangements. (Source: IANS)
