MUMBAI– V-Mart Retail Limited reported a widening of its consolidated net loss to Rs 16 crore for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, nearly doubling from a loss of Rs 8.87 crore in the same period a year earlier, even as the company recorded higher revenue and improved operating performance.
The value fashion and lifestyle retailer reported an 18.1% increase in revenue from operations to Rs 953 crore for the quarter ended September 2026, compared with Rs 807 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year, according to a regulatory filing released Tuesday.
Despite the larger net loss, V-Mart posted stronger operating earnings during the quarter. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) increased 20.3% to Rs 86.1 crore from Rs 71.6 crore a year earlier.
The company’s EBITDA margin edged up to 9% from 8.9% in the year-ago period, indicating a modest improvement in operating profitability.
Total income, including other income, increased 17.9% to Rs 955.67 crore during the quarter.
For the first six months of fiscal 2027, V-Mart reported total income of Rs 2,047.13 crore, representing a 20.52% increase from the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
According to the company’s financial disclosures, its retail trade business generated income of Rs 94.71 crore during the quarter, while the digital marketplace segment contributed Rs 142.8 crore.
The quarterly results reflected continued sales growth across the company’s retail operations, although the higher revenue and improved operating earnings were insufficient to prevent a larger net loss.
Separately, V-Mart announced that its Board of Directors had approved the appointment of Varin Agarwal as Head of Merchandising, effective November 3, 2026.
Agarwal will also be designated as Senior Management Personnel following his appointment. The decision was based on a recommendation from the company’s Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
V-Mart Retail operates in India’s value fashion and lifestyle market, serving consumers through its retail business and digital marketplace operations.
Shares of V-Mart Retail closed marginally higher on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday, gaining Rs 0.40, or 0.05%, to finish at Rs 737.40. (Source: IANS)
