Mumbai— Global IT services giant Cognizant announced Thursday that about 80 percent of its eligible employees will receive salary increases effective November 1, 2025. The hikes, which will be merit-based, are expected to be in the “high single digits” — roughly 7 to 9 percent — of current pay.

The move follows Cognizant’s earlier indication during its second-quarter earnings that it would grant raises to the vast majority of staff in the second half of the year.

“The salary hikes will apply up to, and including, the Senior Associate level,” a company spokesperson said. “The amount will vary based on individual performance ratings and country. In India, consistently top-performing employees will see increases in the high single digits. Top performers will receive the largest adjustments. Earlier this year, Cognizant awarded most associates their highest bonuses in three years.”

Last week, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) — India’s largest IT services company — announced a similar wage revision covering roughly 80 percent of its workforce, primarily mid- and junior-level employees. That announcement came as TCS also prepares to lay off around 12,000 employees, or 2 percent of its headcount, in 2025.

Cognizant’s business performance has shown mixed trends in 2025. The company reported a 7 percent year-on-year decline in bookings for the first quarter of the calendar year, though trailing 12-month bookings rose 3 percent to $26.7 billion, driven by four deals worth over $100 million each.

First-quarter revenue reached $5.1 billion, a 7.5 percent increase from the same period in 2024. (Source: IANS)
