MUMBAI, India — Singer Arijit Singh has issued a clarification explaining why his songs continue to be released even after he announced his retirement from playback singing.
Taking to X on Tuesday, Singh shared a lengthy note addressed directly to his listeners, saying the steady release of new tracks is due to a backlog of previously recorded material rather than new assignments.
“This message is just for my listeners please don’t read and swipe right now if you are not my listener, its a humble request. Hello beautiful people! I just want to tell you all that I love you. Thank you so much for your kindness in this ruthless world,” he wrote.
Singh explained that while he has stopped accepting new projects, he still has many unfinished songs that must be completed and released. “Although I have stopped taking new assignments, the list of pending songs are not less you know. I will have to complete a lot of songs,” he said, adding that unreleased tracks would continue to come out, possibly through this year and even into the next.
“There are so many unfinished songs, they are gonna keep releasing until they are done. May be through this whole year. may be it will touch next year too. Be peaceful,” Singh wrote, urging fans not to engage in repeated explanations online and to step away from social media.
The clarification follows Singh’s earlier announcement that he was retiring from playback singing. In that message, he said he would no longer take on new assignments, describing his career as “a wonderful journey.”
Reports have said the singer is now preparing for his directorial debut with an upcoming film. Singh previously directed the 2018 Bengali film “Sa,” a lyrical coming-of-age story centered on a young boy’s relationship with music. (Source: IANS)
