NEW DELHI — French President Emmanuel Macron will make a three-day official visit to India from February 17 to 19 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Tuesday.

During the visit, Macron will attend the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi on February 19 and hold talks with Modi aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across sectors outlined in the Horizon 2047 Roadmap, the ministry said.

The India-AI Impact Summit 2026, announced earlier by Modi at the France AI Action Summit, is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on February 19 and 20.

In addition to discussions in New Delhi, the two leaders are expected to review regional and global issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. They will also travel to Mumbai to jointly inaugurate the India–France Year of Innovation, which will be observed throughout 2026 in both countries.

Macron’s visit follows Modi’s trip to France in February 2025 and reflects what officials described as the depth of the India–France Strategic Partnership and the shared commitment of both countries to further strengthen ties.

On January 26, Macron conveyed greetings to Modi and the people of India on the occasion of Republic Day and confirmed plans for his February visit. Sharing a photograph from their meeting in Jaipur in 2024, Macron said the visit would continue efforts to build the bilateral partnership.

The two leaders last met in November on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, where they discussed a range of bilateral and global issues. Modi later said India–France ties remained “a force for global good.”

In September, Modi and Macron also held a telephone conversation to review progress in bilateral cooperation and exchange views on international and regional developments, including efforts to bring an early end to the conflict in Ukraine. Modi said the India–France Strategic Partnership would continue to play a key role in promoting global peace and stability. (Source: IANS)
