Pooja Bhatt Marks 10th Birthday Sober, Calls It a Major Milestone

MUMBAI, India — Actress and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt said her latest birthday was special “for more reasons than one,” as she celebrated turning 54 along with completing a decade of sobriety.

Bhatt shared a photo on Instagram in which she is seen holding a rose as sunlight falls across her face. In her post, she expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support she received, saying the day held deeper personal meaning beyond the birthday itself.

“Yesterday was special for more reasons than one.. the tsunami of love received from all of you,for which I am truly grateful. The privilege of turning 54,” she wrote.

She added, “But mostly, for the milestone of it being my 10’TH Birthday SOBER. 54 yrs of being. 10 years of TRULY living. Gratitude to the Universe for everything and more. #sobrietyrocks.”

The daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and half-sister of actress Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt made her first leading appearance in the television film Daddy in 1989. She rose to prominence with the romantic comedy Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin in 1991, her highest-grossing release.

Over the next decade, she earned critical recognition for roles in films including Sadak, Junoon, Naaraaz, Angrakshak, Chaahat, Tamanna, Border, Kabhi Na Kabhi, Angaaray and Zakhm, before taking a break from acting and appearing intermittently on screen.

More recently, she appeared in the film Chup: Revenge of the Artist, directed by R. Balki, which centers on a serial killer targeting corrupt film critics. She was also a contestant on the reality show Bigg Boss OTT 2. (Source: IANS)
