NEW DELHI–Google Cloud is expanding its focus on India’s small and mid-sized businesses, highlighting how artificial intelligence can help companies improve productivity, manage operations and support growth without requiring major technology investments.

The company presented its AI capabilities at Cloud Day India 2026 on Wednesday, bringing together more than 600 business owners, executives and technology leaders from small and medium-sized businesses and mid-market enterprises across various industries.

Google Cloud said AI is becoming an increasingly important tool for Indian businesses seeking to expand their operations, improve efficiency and compete in a rapidly evolving digital economy.

“India’s small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are central to the country’s Viksit Bharat ambitions, with AI emerging as a powerful enabler of their next phase of growth,” the company stated.

A major focus of the event was the growing use of agentic AI, a technology that enables intelligent systems to analyze business information, coordinate workflows and carry out certain tasks with limited human involvement.

Google Cloud said many smaller businesses still face obstacles to adopting AI, including disconnected data systems, outdated technology infrastructure and uncertainty about whether AI investments will deliver measurable financial returns.

The company described these challenges as an “AI Value Gap,” referring to the difficulty businesses face in translating AI capabilities into practical business results.

To address these barriers, Google Cloud demonstrated how businesses can combine its Gemini AI models, Google Workspace productivity applications, data analytics tools and cloud infrastructure to develop and deploy AI solutions.

The company said its integrated technology platform is designed to help businesses introduce AI-powered processes without replacing existing systems or hiring large teams of software engineers.

“Across Asia Pacific, the businesses pulling ahead are not those with the biggest IT budgets, but those turning AI into a continuous engine for growth, and India’s small and mid-sized businesses are leading that shift,” said Taru Dahiya, Managing Director, SMB, Google Cloud Asia Pacific.

Google Cloud also presented examples of Indian companies using its technology to address operational challenges and improve business efficiency.

Among them was apparel manufacturer Siyaram’s, which has introduced AI-powered predictive analytics and inventory management systems to forecast customer demand across more than 40,000 products.

The company is also using generative AI applications to simplify marketing content production and improve the efficiency of its promotional activities.

The examples highlighted Google Cloud’s efforts to expand AI adoption beyond large corporations and make advanced technology tools more accessible to India’s growing small and mid-sized business sector. (Source: IANS)
