YouTube Appoints Gunjan Soni as Country Managing Director for India

MUMBAI — YouTube announced the appointment of Gunjan Soni as its new Country Managing Director for India on Monday, as the global streaming giant looks to expand its growth and innovation efforts in one of its largest markets.

With over two decades of leadership experience across business, technology, marketing, and e-commerce, Soni is expected to play a key role in advancing YouTube’s engagement with India’s dynamic creator economy and video commerce landscape.

“YouTube’s journey in India continues to be vibrant and full of potential,” said Gautam Anand, VP of YouTube APAC. “Gunjan’s deep expertise will help accelerate creator growth, unlock new opportunities, and drive India’s digital transformation.”

Soni joins YouTube from ZALORA, where she served as Group CEO for six years, leading innovation and enhancing user experience through personalization and loyalty programs. She also brings significant experience from India’s media and marketing sectors, having held leadership roles at Star India as EVP and at Myntra as CMO. Earlier in her career, she was a Partner at McKinsey & Company, focusing on consumer and marketing strategy.

In addition to her new role, Soni serves on the board of CBRE Group, a Fortune 500 company.
