NEW DELHI— Bharti Enterprises Founder and Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal on Tuesday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s forward-thinking, technology-first vision, saying it has laid a strong foundation for using technology to drive inclusive growth across India.

On the eve of Modi’s 75th birthday, Mittal recalled how the Prime Minister showed a remarkable ability to listen to business leaders and quickly adopt ideas for the nation’s benefit. During a visit to the United Kingdom, Mittal said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi demonstrated his unique ability to listen to industry leaders and instantly grasp and amplify ideas that are good for the country.”

In a post on X shared by Bharti Airtel as part of the ‘My Modi Story’ campaign, Mittal highlighted Modi’s 2014 trip to Japan. There, Modi promised to create a single-window clearance desk in the Prime Minister’s Office for Japanese investors — a move Mittal said fundamentally reshaped how Japan viewed investing in India.

During that visit, addressing top Indian and Japanese business leaders in Tokyo, Modi stressed that India’s rules and regulations were being streamlined and would deliver results in the near future. He emphasized that single-window clearances were a priority, reflecting his focus on good governance, simplifying procedures, speeding up processes, and using technology to make doing business easier.

Mittal also noted that Modi’s technology-first vision predated his role as Prime Minister. “As Chief Minister of Gujarat, PM Modi pioneered grassroots development by connecting every village panchayat via VSAT, a first-of-its-kind project in India. This showcased his deep commitment to using technology for inclusive progress,” Mittal said, according to the Bharti Airtel post.

As the nation prepares to celebrate Modi’s 75th birthday on Wednesday, stories of his personal impact are emerging under the ‘My Modi Story’ campaign, reflecting experiences shared by people from diverse walks of life. (Source: IANS)
