MUMBAI– Linde India Limited reported a 30.5% decline in net profit for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, as weaker operating margins weighed on earnings despite an increase in revenue.

The industrial and medical gases company posted a net profit of Rs 119 crore for the quarter ended September 2026, compared with Rs 171 crore during the same period a year earlier, according to a regulatory filing released Tuesday.

Revenue from operations increased 12.3% to Rs 723 crore, up from Rs 644 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

However, the company’s operating performance deteriorated during the quarter. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) declined 18% to Rs 232 crore from Rs 282 crore a year earlier.

The company’s EBITDA margin narrowed to 32% from 44% in the year-ago quarter, reflecting pressure on operating profitability despite higher sales.

Headquartered in Kolkata, Linde India is a subsidiary of The BOC Group and operates as part of Linde plc, one of the world’s largest industrial gases companies. The promoter group holds a 75% stake in the publicly traded company.

Linde India operates in the industrial gases and engineering sectors, supplying industrial, medical and specialty gases to customers across several industries.

Its core gases business produces and distributes products including oxygen, nitrogen, argon and nitrous oxide through onsite pipeline systems, bulk cryogenic tankers and cylinder distribution networks.

The company maintains more than 35 facilities across India, serving customers in manufacturing, health care and other industrial sectors.

In addition to its gases operations, Linde India’s project engineering division designs, supplies and commissions air separation units, nitrogen plants, pressure swing adsorption plants and other cryogenic infrastructure.

Established in 1935 and formerly known as BOC India Limited, the company has maintained a presence in India’s industrial gases market for more than nine decades.

Milan Sadhukhan, who became Managing Director in January 2026, currently leads the company.

Despite the decline in quarterly earnings, Linde India shares closed higher on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday. The stock gained Rs 76.65, or 1.33%, to finish at Rs 5,838. (Source: IANS)
