MUMBAI–Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL) reported a 64% increase in its consolidated net loss for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, as declining operating earnings and shrinking profit margins weighed on the Indian fashion retailer’s financial performance.

The Mumbai-based company posted a net loss of Rs 180 crore for the quarter ended September 2026, compared with a loss of Rs 110 crore in the corresponding quarter a year earlier, according to a regulatory filing released Thursday.

Revenue from operations remained nearly flat, declining 0.3% year over year to Rs 1,511 crore from Rs 1,516 crore in the same period of fiscal 2026.

The company’s operating performance deteriorated during the quarter, with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) falling 42.9% to Rs 89 crore from Rs 156 crore a year earlier.

As a result, ABFRL’s EBITDA margin narrowed to 5.9%, compared with 10.3% in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

The decline in operating earnings, despite relatively stable revenue, reflected increased pressure on the company’s profitability.

ABFRL released its quarterly financial results after Indian stock markets closed Thursday.

Shares of the company ended the trading session at Rs 41.75, gaining 2.68%, or Rs 1.09, for the day.

The stock has experienced considerable volatility in recent months. Over the previous five trading sessions, shares advanced 5.83%, or Rs 2.30, but remained down 5.84% over the past month.

The company’s share price has declined 34.76% over the past six months, representing a loss of Rs 22.24 per share.

Since the beginning of 2026, ABFRL shares have fallen 45.14%, or Rs 34.35. Over the past 12 months, the stock has lost 46.53%, equivalent to Rs 36.33 per share, according to market data.
