MUMBAI–Bikaji Foods International Limited reported an 11.3% decline in net profit for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, as lower operating margins offset double-digit revenue growth driven by strong sales in its ethnic and western snacks businesses.

The Indian packaged food manufacturer posted a net profit of Rs 70.78 crore for the quarter ended September 2026, compared with Rs 79.77 crore in the corresponding period last year, according to a regulatory filing Thursday.

Revenue from operations increased 13.1% year over year to Rs 921.44 crore from Rs 814.9 crore in the second quarter of fiscal 2026.

Despite the increase in sales, operating profitability weakened. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) declined 7% to Rs 119 crore from Rs 128 crore a year earlier.

The company’s EBITDA margin narrowed to approximately 13%, compared with 15% in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Bikaji’s core ethnic snacks business remained a major growth driver, recording a 19.7% increase in revenue during the quarter.

The western snacks segment delivered even stronger growth, with revenue rising 44.2% year over year, reflecting increased demand across the company’s packaged snack categories.

However, performance varied across other product segments.

Revenue from packaged sweets declined 11.3%, which the company attributed primarily to the timing of the Diwali festival. With the holiday falling in the subsequent quarter this year, a portion of seasonal demand is expected to shift into the following reporting period.

The company’s papad business also experienced challenges, with segment revenue falling 6.3% because of supply chain disruptions affecting the production of handmade papad.

For the first six months of fiscal 2027, Bikaji Foods reported revenue from operations of Rs 1,672.8 crore, an increase of 12.8% compared with the same period a year earlier.

The revenue growth was supported by a 6.2% increase in sales volume, indicating higher demand for the company’s products.

EBITDA for the six-month period totaled Rs 217.7 crore, representing an operating margin of 13%.

Profit after tax for the first half of the fiscal year stood at Rs 128.4 crore, while earnings per share reached Rs 5.22.

Deepak Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Bikaji Foods International, said the company’s ethnic and western snacks categories delivered healthy growth in both sales volume and value during the quarter.

The results reflect continued expansion in Bikaji’s major snack categories, although declining margins and weaker performance in sweets and papad affected overall profitability.

Shares of Bikaji Foods International closed 3.4% higher at Rs 489 on the National Stock Exchange ahead of the earnings announcement. (Source: IANS)
