New Delhi– IndiGo has issued a travel advisory urging passengers to reach airports earlier than usual as security has been heightened nationwide following a deadly explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi that killed at least eight people.

“Enhanced security measures are currently in place at all airports. We kindly request all customers to arrive early to allow adequate time for entry checks, security screening and check-in,” the airline said in a statement posted on its X account.

The advisory noted that passengers may also be subject to secondary security checks prior to boarding, in line with regulatory requirements. IndiGo said it appreciates the public’s cooperation and assured travelers that operations will continue as scheduled.

The blast occurred Monday evening when a Haryana-registered Hyundai i20 parked near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station exploded. Security forces have since increased patrols and surveillance across Delhi and surrounding regions.

Authorities in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai have issued high alerts, with added security deployed in crowded markets, transit hubs, and places of worship.

The explosion came just hours after police in Faridabad dismantled a terror module linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind and Jaish-e-Mohammad, recovering roughly 2,900 kg of explosives and a large cache of weapons and ammunition.

Investigators are examining whether Umar, a suspected member of the module and believed to be the driver of the car that exploded, detonated the device intentionally or whether the blast occurred accidentally. His reasons for being in the Red Fort area are still under investigation. (Source: IANS)
