NEW DELHI — Elon Musk’s net worth has surged past $800 billion following SpaceX’s acquisition of his artificial intelligence company xAI, widening his lead as the richest person in the world by an unprecedented margin.

Musk’s fortune is now estimated at about $852 billion, nearly $578 billion more than the world’s second-wealthiest individual, Google co-founder Larry Page, whose net worth is pegged at roughly $281 billion.

The deal values the combined SpaceX–xAI entity at approximately $1.25 trillion and added an estimated $84 billion to Musk’s personal wealth, according to reports.

Prior to the merger, Musk owned about 42 percent of SpaceX, which was valued at around $800 billion, and roughly 49 percent of xAI, which was valued at about $250 billion following a recent private fundraising round. After the transaction, Musk’s stake in the combined company rose to about 43 percent, valued at roughly $542 billion, making SpaceX his largest holding by a wide margin.

Musk also holds around 12 percent of Tesla, valued at approximately $178 billion, along with Tesla stock options estimated at $124 billion. In addition, he stands to receive a shareholder-approved Tesla compensation package that could grant up to $1 trillion in additional Tesla stock over the next decade, before taxes and subject to the cost of unlocking restricted shares and meeting performance targets.

Over the past four months, Musk has crossed multiple wealth milestones, surpassing $500 billion, $600 billion, and $700 billion. The gains have been driven largely by rising SpaceX valuations and a ruling by the Delaware Supreme Court that restored his Tesla stock options.

Musk has previously said that SpaceX’s Starship rocket will begin delivering the more powerful V3 Starlink satellites into orbit in 2026, with each launch adding more than 20 times the capacity of current Falcon launches carrying V2 Starlink satellites.

According to Musk, Starship is designed to support launches “every hour carrying 200 tons per flight,” ultimately lifting millions of tons into orbit and beyond.

He has also said that Starship will deploy the next generation of direct-to-mobile satellites, enabling full cellular coverage anywhere on Earth. (Source: IANS)
