Seattle — GoDaddy CEO Aman Bhutani said the pace of change in India has accelerated significantly, describing the country as one of the internet and web-hosting company’s fastest-growing markets.
In an interview, Bhutani said GoDaddy has a substantial customer base in India and continues to see opportunities as the country develops.
“But we love India as a market. We love growing there and we have a ton of customers in India and it’s, it’s one of our fastest growing markets,” he said.
Bhutani described GoDaddy as the world’s largest domain registrar and said its business in India continues to perform well. He added that the broader domain market in the country is still growing.
His assessment was also shaped by the changes he has witnessed during visits to India, where he grew up.
Bhutani said he moved to the United States a little more than 25 years ago and has seen India change considerably during that period.
“And that pace of change in India has definitely accelerated,” he said.
He said returning to places transformed by construction and development can sometimes make familiar surroundings feel like an entirely different city or country.
Bhutani said his pride in India’s progress remains as strong as it was when he first moved to the United States.
He made the comments during a gathering of Indian American technology professionals in Seattle that included visiting representatives, including India’s ambassador.
Bhutani said Seattle has a sizable Indian American technology community, with many members interested in contributing to India’s continued development.
“One is always surprised to see how many of us there are here,” he said.
He said the gathering gave participants an opportunity to hear about India’s priorities and consider how their experience could contribute.
“It was great to listen to our ambassador. It was great to listen to the priorities that India has and what contribution we can play,” Bhutani said.
He added that members of the community are eager not only to follow developments in India but also to participate in the country’s growth.
“I think the number one thing for me is that people are very eager to participate, people are very eager to understand the story and be part of India continuing to develop,” he said.
Bhutani also credited the Indian consulate in Seattle with helping strengthen connections within the community through events that bring people together and help build professional networks.
“It has been fantastic to have a consulate general here in Seattle,” he said. (Source: IANS)
