NEW DELHI — Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said Monday that production will be temporarily disrupted after a fire broke out at a supplier-operated manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu.

The company said in an exchange filing that the fire occurred May 31 at Mobis’ facility in Irrungattukottai in Kancheepuram district. The facility supplies audio components and other automotive parts to Hyundai.

No fatalities were reported in the incident, the company said.

Hyundai said its teams and Mobis staff are assessing the damage and evaluating the impact on operations. The automaker said the incident could lead to a temporary disruption in manufacturing activity, though it did not provide a timeline.

The company said it is working to identify alternative sourcing options and implement supply continuity measures to minimize the operational impact.

“There is sufficient vehicle inventory in our dealer network to take care of the customer demand,” Hyundai said.

The production warning comes after Hyundai Motor India announced in May that it would increase vehicle prices by up to 12,800 rupees from June, citing rising input costs, higher commodity prices and increased operating expenses.

The company said the size of the price increase would vary by model and variant, with revised prices taking effect June 1 across Hyundai’s lineup.

Hyundai Motor India reported domestic sales of 47,837 units in May, up 9.1% from a year earlier. Including exports of 13,300 units, total sales stood at 61,137 units, a 4.1% increase from the same period last year. (Source: IANS)
