MUMBAI — Hardik Tamore’s fluent 85 was not enough to carry Route Mobile over the line as DTDC held on for an eight-run win in the DY Patil T20 Cup, while Shreyas Iyer’s golden duck became the headline moment in BPCL’s separate clash against Bank of Baroda.
Batting first at the DY Patil University ground in Nerul, DTDC posted 182 for nine from their 20 overs. Route Mobile’s chase stayed alive through Tamore’s aggressive 47-ball knock, which included 10 boundaries and three sixes, but the side was bowled out for 174 in 19.3 overs to fall just short. Ankit Singh led DTDC’s bowling effort with figures of 3 for 37, supported by Shreyas Gurav and Omkar Ghule, who picked up two wickets apiece. Earlier, Maxwell Swaminathan top-scored for DTDC with 42.
In the afternoon fixture, attention shifted to Shreyas Iyer’s dismissal for a golden duck, a rare early exit that dominated discussion despite competitive cricket elsewhere in the tournament.
At the DY Patil Stadium, Indian Navy produced a strong batting display to set up a nine-run victory over Canara Bank. Shubham Rohilla’s 79 off 48 balls and Suraj Vashist’s 55 combined in a 136-run stand for the second wicket as Indian Navy reached 200 for five. Canara Bank responded with intent, led by Atharva Taide’s 67 from 38 deliveries, but finished on 191 for nine. Poonam Poonia and Mohit Jangra delivered key spells to defend the total.
Play continues on Wednesday with Bank of Baroda facing Income Tax in the morning at the DY Patil Stadium, followed by Reliance against BPCL in the afternoon. At the DY Patil University ground, Jain Irrigation will meet DTDC in the morning, with Tata Sports taking on Mumbai Customs later in the day. (Source: IANS)
